Column co-founder William Hockey made a passionate pitch for the importance of fintech in maintaining the supremacy of the dollar. Hockey used a chunk of the fortune he made as a co-founder of Plaid to buy a bank and overhaul its systems to make it a regulated back-end partner for fintechs.
“It's our job to make the dollar an easy building-block,” he said. “As America, we have the possibility of ceding our financial supremacy to somebody else. I want the world to continue to build on the dollar.”
